As an extension of the internationally recognized Canada Virtuous Women (CAVIWO) is committed to transforming lives across Nigeria.
Our Foundation
and Beliefs
Rooted in Biblical principles and guided by Proverbs 31:10-31, Nigeria Virtuous Women believes that empowering women from a Godly perspective, combined with holistic and socio-economic support, can profoundly turn their lives around. We recognize the immense challenges faced by many widows and single parents as they strive to provide for their families. Our organization was born from a deep desire to provide prayerful, emotional, and economic support to women at every stage of their life’s journey.
Our Mission and Vision
CAVIWO Women Empowerment Organization Nigeria operates as a registered charity, non-governmental, not-for-profit, philanthropic, and nonpartisan organization, fully compliant with Nigerian laws. Our mission is to empower, strengthen, and build up women, fostering their growth and resilience. While our base is in Nigeria, we are part of a broader global movement that includes operations in Canada, Cameroon, Kenya, and Tanzania. We are trusting God to inspire individuals to support our efforts as we reach out to women, widows, single parents, and their children across the nation and beyond.
Adeline Ijang
The Woman Who Fears The Lord!
Founder CAVIWO
A Canadian citizen born in Cameroon in West Africa, Adeline grew up in a Christian community where many women were unemployed widows and they struggled to send their children to school. She was only 19 years old when her father died, making her mother a widow. She witnessed widows go through false accusations, trauma, homelessness and extreme poverty in her country of birth. So, she vowed that as long as she lives; widows must be empowered and every child must have an education.
One beautiful evening in 2016, she was having dinner at her friend’s house and as she sat on the dinner table with ADELINE AKWA and FABIOLA NYUFOR, one of them suggested that they should join a group in the city. She said no, unless it’s a prayer group where women can have a safe space to pray and share knowledge and help each other. They all said; let’s do it. She left from there and gather other women and by their first meeting, they had more than 10 women. The group soon started attracting women from outside the Ottawa community, across Canada, USA and across the continents.
