28 women received pastry training in: cake making, meat pie, doughnuts, egg roll, burns, chinchin and bread. These widows were carefully chosen from the many widows in Abia State based on the type of business they wished to pursue, taking into account that snacks are predominantly taken during school breaks, refreshments for special occasions are a key source of satisfaction during the day. When the women met at the Umuaihia, Abia State bakery, the facilitator gave them the instructions with demonstrations before starting the training.
It was a 2-days session, which was divided into groups according to the number of women that were present.
The program ended up with the packaging of the samples of snacks that were made. The women joyfully retired home with aspirations to use their new skills to earn a living.
