Community Celebration: Joyful residents fetching clean water from the new well for the first time.

In the quiet quarters of Diyanvoh, Jalingo, life was defined by a daily struggle: the search for clean water. For generations, over 300 residents relied on unsafe sources—digging into sandy soil, collecting murky water, and hoping it wouldn’t bring illness. Children missed school. Families lived under the constant shadow of waterborne disease.

But on April 10, 2025, everything changed.

Thanks to a fully-funded clean water initiative by Canada Virtuous Women (CAVIWO) and carried out by CAVIWO Women Empowerment Organisation Nigeria, a functional well was installed at the heart of the community. With just a short walk, families can now fill their containers with clean, safe water—no longer a luxury, but a new standard of living.

“We no longer have to dig in the sand to find water. This project has saved our children.” — Mama Grace

From Burden to Hope

The ripple effects of this initiative are already being felt. Health outcomes have dramatically improved, with a projected 60% reduction in waterborne illnesses, especially among women and children. Children who once spent hours fetching water now attend school regularly. Women have reclaimed time once lost to survival.

“This is more than water—it’s health, hope, and dignity for our people.” — Quarter Head of Diyanvoh

Why This Project Matters

  • 95% of households gained access to clean water within a 10-minute walk
  • The initiative promoted community empowerment and health equity
  • A model was created that can be replicated across other underserved villages

This project proves what’s possible when vision meets action. It stands as a symbol of what dedicated partners and sponsors can achieve when they choose to invest in basic human needs.

“Clean water is foundational. It uplifts communities, especially women and children.” — CAVIWO Nigeria Coordination Team

The need doesn’t end in Diyanvoh. Neighboring communities face the same challenges—ones we now know how to solve. With your partnership, CAVIWO can scale this solution and build boreholes with 10,000-liter reservoirs to serve even larger populations.

Whether you’re a corporation looking to make meaningful impact, a nonprofit seeking collaboration, or an individual moved by this story—there’s a place for you in the mission.

Support clean water. Support life.

Together, we can bring health, dignity, and opportunity to rural communities across Nigeria. Let’s make every drop count.
